About me

Hi, I am Margit Takács. This is my story.

Change Consultant, Trainer & Coach.
Author of the award-winning Change Matters.

Fifteen years inside DHL across Singapore, Belgium and Germany, then independent: now helping senior leaders in 30+ countries take their teams with them through complex change.

Margit Takács

I started my journey in a small town in the southeastern part of Hungary, then pursued my studies in the capital, Budapest, where I became part of an international student organisation, AIESEC. Through my work there and through its programme, I embarked on a long trip to New Zealand for one and a half years, little knowing it would be the start of a two-decade-long adventure around the world.

Filled with excitement to explore new cultures and ways of living, I then moved to Singapore, where I started my corporate growth and worked in different regional roles at the world's leading logistics firm, DHL, for five years.

Later I relocated to Belgium with my company to re-connect with my European roots. Due to the aftermath of the global recession, I was to either move to the global headquarters in Germany or move out. A third option came my way.

Instead of immediately taking on the next role within DHL, I took a six-month sabbatical leave. I joined a volunteering expedition with Raleigh International in the jungles of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. An eye-opening, daring experience where I learned plenty as I worked with other volunteers to plant trees, build trails, construct a community house, and learn how to survive whilst living in a jungle camp without any of the comforts of the modern world.

When I returned to corporate life, I continued with DHL in Bonn for seven more years and took on a jet-setting global role helping leaders across the world strengthen the way they lead change.

Today I am based in Switzerland with my husband and two young daughters (Evelyn and Ariana), and I run my own change-consulting practice with organisations across many industries around the world. The Change Matters book grew out of that work. So did the Change Confident Academy. So did this site.

My goal in every engagement is simple: to make myself unnecessary.

I do not want to be embedded forever. I want to leave behind a team that is more change-confident than when I arrived, with the language, structure and tools to lead the next transformation themselves. That is the work.

Twenty years of practice, one north star.
